Shiatsu and Qigong Practitioner
I tentatively visited my first Qigong workshop in my early 20s because I had a crush on a guy who attended the classes regularly! What I saw and experienced there from a great master blew me away, so whilst the romantic interest came to nothing, that first class started a life-long exploration of ancient East Asian healing culture. Shiatsu and Qigong heighten our awareness of the interconnectedness of our being and offer us simple, effective ways of coming back home in ourselves – these are life-tools that are both powerful and empowering.
I have been practising and teaching Shiatsu and Qigong since 1997 and am forever grateful for what it brings to my life. For the past 24 years, I have also been working as a teacher, training Shiatsu practitioners to spread these healing arts. The areas that I’m particularly engaged with are supporting students to recognise how to build their sensitivity to Qi and to move with the Qi in the moment. These insights I bring to both the Qigong classes and my Shiatsu.
Originally from London, I am interested in how we can maintain connection with the natural rhythms of life in an urban context: how we can become more aware of when to join the excitement of city life and how to carve out time for rest and nature – what pace works for us individually. And how can we combine the best of western medicine with the holistic knowledge of Daoist-based practices to find a truly holistic way of thriving in today’s hectic world.
What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a gentle yet powerful healing art originating from Japan. there are benefits for the body, emotions, mind and spirit, making it truly holistic. You can use it as a way of maintaining your health and well-being, as support in moving forwards with your dreams and life path, as well as for alleviating the symptoms of illnesses and conditions. It is particularly useful for complex conditions that are hard to define in western medicine terms.
Shiatsu accesses our vital energies (known as Qi) that flow throughout the bodymind. When our flow is free and open we feel healthy, full of energy and clear in our mind. For many reasons our Qi can become stuck, and over time this produces symptoms of discomfort and ill health. Through deep and radiating touch, movements, stretches and classical acupressure points, Shiatsu unblocks, balances and improves your flow. As the movement of Qi changes, symptoms diminish, and you find that energy levels, posture and flexibility are promoted whilst your thoughts remain calm.

Heaven & Earth Qigong
Simple movements developed over thousands of years to open our vital energies, giving us time and space to let go of tensions in the body and the mind - a weekly, moving detox and refresh!
Also known as Do-In and akin to T’ai Chi, all of these terms can be roughly translated as "Qi development through practice," and cover a huge range of movements and mindfulness techniques that empower us to understand ourselves better and on a deeper level. I tailor the exercises to the needs, aims and condition of the group and explain in everyday language how they work, so that you can improve your own understanding of how to help yourself - a toolkit for life! Insights into the nature of Qi, Daoist philosophy, and how to adapt to the changing seasons and times of life put the exercises into a holistic context.
We always finish the class with a Heaven and Earth Qigong, a moving meditation celebrating our connection with ourselves, each other and the universe. All are welcome! You can do the exercises seated if your energy levels or mobility are limited.
